Frequently Asked Questions

Technical questions

Which type of bow is suitable for beginners?

For beginners, the recurve bow is the most suitable. It is simple to use and versatile for training, hobbies, and competitions.
Alternatively, the compound bow can be chosen if more technical support is desired, but it requires more adjustment. The longbow is usually only recommended after some experience.

How do you choose the right poundage?

The correct draw weight is chosen based on strength, experience, and purpose.

Guidelines
Beginners: approx. 20–25 lbs
Intermediates: 25–35 lbs
Advanced: 35+ lbs

Important
- You should be able to draw the bow smoothly and hold it for a few seconds
- Too high a draw weight leads to poor technique and increases the risk of injury
- It's better to start low and increase later

What's the difference between a recurve, a longbow, and a compound bow?

Recurve
- The ends of the bow curve forward
- Easy to learn and versatile
- Most used by beginners and in sports

Longbow
- Long and almost straight bow
- Simple construction
- Requires more technique and strength

Compound
-Has wheels/cams
- Easier to hold at full draw
- More technical and requires more adjustment

Which arrows fit my bow?

Arrows are selected based on the bow, draw weight, and draw length.
They must match

Spine
Must match the bow's poundage
Length
Must be longer than your draw length
Material
Wood - often for longbows
Aluminum/carbon fiber - recurve and compound

Important
Incorrect spine leads to poor accuracy.
Follow the manufacturer's spine chart or get help at the store

How do I choose the right bow?

The right bow is chosen based on experience, purpose, and physical level.

First consider
-Experience: beginner, intermediate or experienced
- Purpose: hobby, training, competition
- How often the bow will be used

Bow types
-Recurve: best for beginners
- Longbow: for experienced and traditional shooting
- Compound: technical and precise, requires adjustment

Fit
- Correct draw weight
- Appropriate bow length for your height/draw length
- Start simple and upgrade later.

How do you correctly measure draw length?

Draw length is measured in two ways:

Method 1: Arm span
-Stretch your arms horizontally
- Measure from fingertip to fingertip
- Divide by 2.5

The result is your draw length in inches

Method 2: With a bow
-Draw the bow completely with correct technique
- Measure from the string to the front of the grip
- Add 1.75 to the measurement

Important
Draw length depends on technique, not just height
- Use an average if you are unsure
- Correct draw length is crucial for choosing the right bow and arrows

You can always contact us if you are unsure

How do you maintain a bow?

- Storage: Dry, room temperature and out of direct sunlight
-String: Check regularly for wear and wax it regularly
-Cleaning: Wipe bow and arrows clean of dirt and moisture
-Inspection: Check for cracks, loose parts or deformities
- Disassembly: Disassemble the string for prolonged storage
